Generally, a poorly prepared business plan would definitely fail and it can be blamed on any one or more of the following factors: inadequate information about the industry, lack of competitors, and knowledge about the business unit's position i.e. Strengths & weakness, opportunities, threat and unrealistic goals. Good business planning could be the means to achieve this. Business planning could be described as past of an on-going continuous activity concerning the direction of the whole organization. It contains the mission, objectives, strategies, tactics and policies that will serve as a guide to the organization in adapting to the environment for a specified period of time. A business plan...

There are some International Trade Deficit Issues, which the United States is trying to shore up right now. China, needs to right-size its currency although that is five years out and we all know instant changes could cause chaos there. Many businessmen in the United States complain and say that; The problem with the Chinese is that they have stolen all the world's intellectual property, do not honor patents, and mass produce in markets that the companies who own that intellectual property once held. Of course during the Deming Years they complained about the Japanese doing the same and eventually Japan started honoring patents eventually because they did not want anyone to steal their technology...

If you want to be a global trader, you don't have to speak the language like a native but it's sure a good idea to know something of the language in your target market. I can tell you from personal experience that any effort made toward trying to speak the local language will go far toward building good will. If nothing else, learn a few key words. I've discovered in my travels throughout the world that I could pretty much get by anywhere if I knew the local words for "hello," "thank you," "good-bye", the numbers "1, 2, 3" and "where is the bathroom?" A personal suggestion: learn that last phrase first! Yes, the language of international business is still English but any knowledge of the other...

Academics in the UK have warned about the decrease in number of students learning a second language in schools. Despite the warnings, the rate of enrollment for foreign languages in GCSEs continues to drop. Experts said this decline in foreign language learning has something to do with the British attitude to languages. It seems that Britons believe that knowing more than one language is a sign of weakness. Many agree that this is to a certain extent true because English is the world dominant business language. However, the new conservative government has complained that we will not have any Britons working in the European Commission in the future if this attitude continues. This is because the...

DVD Region Codes - How To Beat Them

I'm a George Clooney placid kind of guy (without the good looks, sadly), but nothing gets me madder than the issue of DVD Region Codes. Never heard of them? Let me explain. Just imagine you buy a music CD from another country while on vacation, or maybe order it online. But when you put said disc in your player there's no sweet music - just a terse message telling you "Wrong Region: North American CDs are coded to only play in North America, European CDs will only play in Europe" . . . and so on. You'd feel like smashing a guitar or putting your foot through a drum set, right? (Relax, music fans - CDs will play anywhere on the planet). Not so with DVDs. There really IS a Region Code preventing you...

onstant carping of policy makers and others about the detrimental effect off-shoring / outsourcing will have on the national economy, seems they are hell bent on misleading the public. Little understanding about the main principles behind off-shoring / outsourcing, they continue to harp on about the trend that will help eradicate poverty and raise living standards globally. While, it is true, a number of pink slips have been handed out as low-end jobs began to be outsourced; the trend has also helped create more new jobs and helped in lower the prices of many services for consumers. The efforts of various people including a couple of Californian Senators in a bid to scupper the off-shoring...

I saw a survey the other day that said that 90% of the people believe that global warming is real. It was then stated that, obviously it is real. This is utterly ridiculous and it is like saying that just because everyone in Islam believes that Allah is God it must be real? The logic in critical thinking skills are totally out the window and the mindless masses due to the mass media hysteria are buying this hook, line and sinker. The global warming propaganda tactics should be obvious by now. For instance if you are a scientist and you make a statement that you believe global warming is false then you can no longer get a job in the research facilities which are funded by those who wish to...

INTRODUCTION Globalization in India started in the early 1990's. Industrialization is the reason behind globalization. Business is the key. When a company operating in a home nation establishes its subsidiary in other nations (host nations), it becomes an MNC and there starts the process of globalization wherein a local company serves the entire world with its products and services. The advent of Internet and the ensuing "new economy" has opened up a plethora of new business opportunities - and an "inevitable" number of business casualties. Shapiro and Varian (1999) argue that while technology changes - economic laws do not. This is globalization in company's perspective. Globalization in India has...

The current banking system could trace its roots back to the Bretton Woods agreement after the war in 1945. With the dust of war settling, an unprecedented raw market of possibilities were opened for inventions of the West to rebuild society. Unfortunately, these markets are restricted from capital inflows by currency system and trade rules of individual nations. In order to foster greater economic prosperity (for the elitist), a free trade system must be developed with the creation of an international body that facilitates the settlement of payments between countries and provide lending to developing nations. It was with this notion, that the IMF and World Bank was formed. The IMF was tasked to...

The winds of recession and financial woes are blowing and America's strategic position is in peril. A period of relative peace the world enjoyed from World War 2 up to the 90's wasn't due to America's military might. Squabbles over markets, expansion of empires to build markets, prowling for resources and raw materials had plunged the world into world wars. Following the last war America began to stand up for and encouraged a world that respected sovereignty, a culture which rewarded work and fair exchange of goods and services. The Europeans were pressured to de-colonise and GATT was established alongside a stable system of currency exchange. These actions led to huge growth in world trade...

The entire world's economic system depends upon the exchange rate. For this reason, it is very important you learn how it works. How the currency exchange rates effect global business is like a thermometer, it measures the health of global economics. First, you must understand by definition what the exchange rate is. It is the value of one nation's currency in comparison to another or to put it another way, if you took one U.S. dollar to Canada, would you be able to buy more than one item at a Dollar Store or not even one item? The laws of supply and demand dictate how the currency exchange rates effect global business with something called a floating exchange rate. A floating exchange rate means...

It's not too hard to turn a capitalist nation into a nation of communism, a dictatorship, or a socialist nation. Free people generally will choose capitalism as their choice, however if the upper, middle and lower class becomes too divided it is rather easy for them to get into fight amongst each other and turn the tables on capitalism. A fully industrialized nation can be turned from capitalism to socialism in just under a couple of decades. This is done through educating the up-and-coming generation into alternate forms of government and slightly modifying history so they do not realize that socialist nations fail. All you have to do is speak to the humanity and empathy of each person and talk...

Sean Hannity is always espousing this mythical creature called a Reagan conservative. Has Mr. Hannity and the rest of the Republicans who place this president on a pedestal ever objectively examined his record. Did government increase or decrease from 1981 to 1988? Mr. Reagan's words certainly sounded conservative but my question is, how conservative was Ronald Reagan in his actions? During Reagan's 8 years in office the federal government spent a total of about 22% of GDP. (That's the biggest-spending eight years since World War II.) Spending grew from $678 billion to $1.14 trillion. Pretty impressive conservative record. Let's go on. Mr. Reagan, like his successors Bush, Clinton, Bush 2 and now...

Some economists might have us believe that all price inflation comes from increased earnings levels, and they might go so far as to say that the increase in earnings accounts for all inflation, but is this really the case? Let's discuss this premise for a moment, because, I disagree and you might learn something from my explanation here. Better yet, perhaps you might have a comment that enlightens me! So, where does price inflation actually come from? Well, does it come from the increased earnings? If so, we better not let too many people work union or we will all be in trouble, better just let a few take the cake and eat it too, while we all pay for it, because if everyone worked union, we'd have...

The American War of Independence, commonly known as the American Revolution established the United States of America as an independent nation on the world map. However, even thereafter, the British did not restrict their level of interference in North America. This intrusion on the behalf of Great Britain irked the US.
